Following graduation from Western Washington University, Carol moved to Portland, Oregon where her husband, Dave, was attending the Oregon Health Sciences University (M.D., Ph.D.). While in Portland, Carol worked as a statistician for an environmental consulting firm.
After Dave’s graduation, Carol and Dave moved to Ames, Iowa where Dave completed a residency in internal medicine while Carol pursued her degree in statistics at Iowa State University. After graduation from Iowa State, Carol joined Syntex Laboratories, Inc. in Palo Alto, California as a Senior Biostatistician. At Syntex, Carol was responsible for design and analysis of clinical studies supporting the company’s product line, including clinical studies that led to approval of Aleve® for use over the counter.
Carol was a founding partner at Pacific Research, Inc. where she served as Vice President of Biostatistics and Clinical Data Management and as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. After the Company was acquired by ICON Clinical Research, Carol served as ICON’s Vice President of Biostatistics for a number of years. Carol is currently President of Pacific Bioanalytics where she continues to provide statistical consulting and clinical data management services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Carol and Dave have two sons: Jonathan, a fire chief in Woodside, CA and Michael, a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Utah.
