Bio

Des Moines, Iowa Vice President of Underwriting and Financial Planning Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield B.S. Mathematics, Iowa State University, 1981 Ellen Diedrichsen joined Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1996, and is currently serving in the role of vice president of underwriting and financial planning. Her teams are responsible for producing, maintaining and analyzing corporate financial planning efforts and providing group health insurance rates for new and existing businesses for Wellmark in Iowa and South Dakota. Diedrichsen has more than 25 years of experience in the health insurance industry, and prior to joining Wellmark, had experience at American Family Insurance in Madison, Wisconsin and Farmland Insurance in Des Moines, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics in 1981 and earned her FSA (Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries) in 1996. Diedrichsen and her husband Steve, who is also an ISU graduate, established the Diedrichsen Scholarship for Mathematics in 2017 to be awarded to mathematics students with an emphasis in actuarial science. They currently live in Des Moines.
