Lynn earned a degree in Distributed Studies from the College of Science and Humanities at Iowa State University in 1975. She earned her M.D. degree in 1978 from the University of Iowa. In 1981 , she completed her residency in Family Medicine at Broadlawns,Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Lynn moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she practiced family medicine for 21 years. During that time, she served on many hospital committees at two of the large medical facilities in downtown Phoenix, including chairman of the family medicine department. She also was a supervisor for the family medicine residency program at Good Samaritan (now Banner Health) Medical Center. In addition, Lynn was on the advisory committee for two of the large insurance plans in the area.
In 2002, Lynn moved to Eugene, Oregon and joined Oregon Medical Group as a family physician. She served as a mentor to new physicians coming into the group and also helped start the mentorship program for new physician assistants and nurse practitioners joining the group.
Lynn and her husband Don both retired at the end of 2014. Her volunteer work has centered around early literacy programs through the Eugene/ Springfield School Districts and reduction of food insecurity in her community and at Iowa State.
