Pam Berneking retired in 2020 from a career in banking that spanned four decades and included leadership roles in community and regional banks as well as a foundation in commercial lending and bank regulation. In 2010, Pam was the founding President and CEO of Alterra Bank, a business-focused community bank that she led from start up to accelerated growth, culminating in a successful exit for investors through the sale of the company in 2014.
Berneking is a member of the board of directors for MRI Global, a leading technological and scientific research institute headquartered in Kansas City. Berneking is an angel investor focused on early-stage companies with women in key leadership roles. She also supports the life-saving mission of the American Heart Association, where she has been an active volunteer leader for many years. Pam and her husband David (’81, Electrical Engineering) are life members of the ISU Alumni Association and avid supporters of Cyclone athletics.
