The primary responsibilities of Council members are to:
- Engage with the Dean in informed discussions about issues at the intersection of higher education and the broader society with specific emphasis on the liberal arts and sciences;
- Provide recommendations to enhance the College’s reputation as a world-class learning and research community at Iowa State University and at the local, national, and international levels;
- Advise the Dean about the current and future directions of various programs in the College and on occupational and career trends;
- Help the College establish mutually beneficial partnerships with individuals and corporations;
- Help the College engage and serve its alumni;
- Actively participate in the College’s philanthropic efforts, including making personal commitments to the Dean’s Advisory Council fund and/or campaign priorities;
- Represent the College to the Iowa State University community;
- Review agenda and supporting materials prior to Council meetings and actively participate in Council meetings.
