Jen Scharff joined John Stoddard Cancer Center in 2011 and accepted the lead medical physicist position in 2016. She returned to Iowa following ten plus years as a medical physicist consultant serving the San Francisco Bay area. With over 15 years of experience, Scharff is responsible for quality assurance, linear accelerator calibration, treatment planning, high dose rate brachytherapy, and various physics related tasks.

In addition to providing clinical physics support, Scharff also mentors and serves as a clinical preceptor for radiation therapists who are studying to become certified medical dosimetrists. She is also involved in several hospital committees including outpatient satisfaction, radiation patient satisfaction, quality, and radiation safety.

Scharff received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in medical physics from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000. She is a lifetime member of the ISU Alumni Association, an ISU Foundation Order of the Knoll member, and an ISU athletics supporter. She is a native Iowan and lives in Ankeny.
