Austin, Texas Part-time Consultant - Software business strategy, system software Retired — Program Director, IBM Corporation B.S. Mathematics, Iowa State University, 1970 M.S. Computer Science, Iowa State University, 1977 Sandve received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from Iowa State University, then joined IBM in 1977 as a computer programmer. Sandve managed hardware, software, strategy, and business development/alliance groups associated with IBM's AIX operating system. He had executive responsibility for the product management of UNIX/Linux software products for IBM's midrange server systems, including strategy, requirements and product roadmaps. Sandve retired from IBM in 2004. He was also active in the computer industry as a presenter and panel participant worldwide and was on The Open Group's Board of Directors from 2001-2004. Sandve currently works part-time as a software consultant on business strategy and software development. He also is actively involved in volunteer genealogy research, primarily for families of Scandinavian ancestry. Sandve has been a member of the Iowa State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Advisory Council since 2008.
