Kate grew up on a farm in the small town of Hawarden in northwest Iowa. Following her graduation from Iowa State, she completed a Master’s in Health Management at the University of Iowa and a Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Kate is presently a Regional Hospital President in Austin Texas with responsibility for four central Texas hospitals. Before joining Ascension, Kate worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics as well as the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics with responsibility for clinical care operations as well as support for graduate medical education programs & health-based research.
Kate has served as a leader within the Central Texas Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is presently the board chair for the Austin Metro YMCA, board member for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) and board member for the American Heart Association.
While at Iowa State University Kate was an active member of Phi Beta Phi sorority, a leadership with the campus Biology Club and a co-chair for the all campus blood drive.
Kate and her spouse, Dr. Ty Henderson, marketing faculty with the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas-Austin, have two very active sons, Evan (age 14) and Ellis (age 11).
