Kim grew up in Sioux City and West Des Moines. Following graduation from Iowa State, she attended the University of Nebraska College of Law and completed her Juris Doctorate in 1995. She is also a licensed CPA, and obtained an LL.M in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law. Kim has spent her career in public accounting, focusing on tax issues of nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. She spent 11 years with a Big 4 firm and is currently a tax partner with RubinBrown, a large regional public accounting firm, where she is Vice-Chair of the Not-for-Profit Services Group.

Kim is active in the Denver community, serving on the board of directors for Colorado Youth for Change, the finance committee of Family Tree and as a member of the continuing education advisory committee for the Colorado Society of CPAs.

While at Iowa State, Kim was involved with a variety of campus activities, including VEISHEA and Greek Week committees. She is also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Kim is a new member of the Iowa State LAS Dean’s Advisory Council, and is also a member of the Iowa State University Alumni Association.
