LAS Alumni Awards Ceremony

Each year, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) presents awards to outstanding alumni and friends of the College. Alumni award recipients are honored at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Honor and Awards Ceremony, as well as the Iowa State University Alumni Association Honors and Awards Ceremony during Homecoming week each fall.

LAS awards and recipients

  • Citation of Merit

    Awarded to distinguished alumni of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and received national or international recognition.

  • Distinguished Service Award

    Alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the College with outstanding contributions that further the educational mission of the college.

  • John V. Atanasoff Discovery Award

    Awarded to alumni of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have significantly advanced scientific knowledge through laboratory accomplishments and/or management.

  • Carrie Chapman Catt Public Engagement Award

    Awarded to alumni of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have demonstrated outstanding achievement for their work with public entities at local, state, national or international levels.

  • Dean’s Arts and Humanities Award

    Awarded to alumni and friends of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who have enhanced appreciation of the arts and humanities at a local, state, national or international level.

  • Young Alumni Award (LAS)

    Awarded to alumni of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who are under 40 years of age and who have excelled in their professions and provided service to their communities.

    LAS departments and programs select their own recipients for the LAS departmental alumni awards. We are proud to present a listing of departmental award recipients for the past several years.

Nominations

Alumni award recipients are honored at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Honor and Awards Ceremony, as well as the Iowa State University Alumni Association Honors and Awards Ceremony during Homecoming week each fall.

Nominations are accepted year-round. Submissions received by March 31st annually will be reviewed by a committee of LAS/ISU Foundation staff and volunteers for selection in the upcoming fall. Nominations will be carried over to subsequent years if applicable. Recipients will be formally announced in LAS publications and recognized at special events.
